Recap: spark at Startup of the Year Summit

Updated: Feb 10, 2022

spark Named Top 100 Startup of 2021!

What a whirlwind last week was! I had the honor of representing spark at the Startup of the Year Pitch Competition and Summit. This 3-day event was held in Tampa with the top 100 startups of 2021. There were startups from many different fields, including AI for ELL students (woot woot EdTech), Space Navigation, and kidney dialysis support. We participated in a pitch competition to share our vision with mentors in our field (in our case, health & wellness), mentoring sessions, and opportunities to learn from incredible entrepreneurs. It was SO humbling to see the overwhelming support you all shared by voting for us as the People's Choice Award!

Still, the highlight of the summit was having the opportunity to represent YOU.

Truly. I feel incredibly lucky to stand in front of folks to share why YOU are important. Because, the reality is, we are just getting started.

Educator well-being has been an issue since the founding of education in our country. Now, the issues of well-being have been exacerbated by COVID-19. So it isn't any singular school or individual that is doing better/worse. Collectively, educator wellness is something that we need to be thinking about.

This summit taught me two critical lessons:

  1. The general public is curious about the issues of wellness, but on average they don't know the extent of the issue in education.

  2. Educator wellness is a marathon, not a sprint. Even though we need immediate support.

The good news is: I'm ready to take the burden off of you because I want to do this work with you. I wan to share with the general public why you matter.

Your role? Take class. Tell us what you want. Spread the message of spark with others.

If you know a school that may be interested in our work, let's talk.

If you want to become a spark ambassador, let's talk.

Here for YOU.
